Most asked

How much does Munu cost?

A new account gets a free trial of 3 days or 25 points, whichever ends first, with no card. After that, Munu Pro is $14.99 a month (400 points of AI a month) or $139 a year (350 points a month, about $11.58 a month). Voice and 400 minutes of listening a month are included in both. A top-up is $4.99 for 300 points. You buy Munu Pro in the Munu phone app, through the App Store or Google Play. Prices are US prices, and the store shows your local price with any tax.

Does Munu listen all the time?

While it sleeps, the microphone is checked for its name on your computer. When it thinks it heard its name, about 1.5 seconds of that audio may be sent to double-check. During a conversation, what you say is sent to Deepgram so it can be turned into text. It goes back to sleep by itself after about eight minutes of quiet.

What is Munu?

Munu is a desktop voice assistant for Windows and Mac, made by Moon Labs. You say its name and ask out loud, and it answers out loud. It keeps notes for you in a folder you own, opens apps and websites, controls music, takes screenshots, runs longer jobs on your computers (you can start them from your phone), and lets you move the pointer and windows with your hands through the webcam.

Can Munu send emails or messages for me?

Mail: no, it makes a draft in Mail on a Mac for you to read and send yourself. Chat messages: yes, when you ask, it types the message into the chat app you name and presses Return.

Which computers does Munu run on?

Munu runs on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or newer), on macOS 15 or newer. There is no Intel Mac build, no Windows ARM build and no Linux version.

Can I cancel, and can I get a refund?

Yes. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you keep the plan until then. The Munu phone app has a Manage link in Settings > Account. A yearly plan gets a reminder email 7 days before it renews. Refunds are asked for from Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play, under their rules, because they take the payment. We cannot refund store purchases ourselves. See munetic.net/munu-refunds.

Price and plans

What happens when the free trial ends?

The trial ends after 3 days, or sooner if you use its 25 points. Munu then tells you that the trial has ended and works again only with Munu Pro, which you start in the Munu phone app. On a computer, Munu shows a QR code that opens the phone app. Your notes stay in your folder either way, because they are ordinary files on your computer.

What does Munu Pro include?

The whole app plus points of AI use that reset each month: 400 on the monthly plan and 350 on the yearly plan. 1 point is 1 US cent of AI use, and Munu’s voice is included. Both plans include 400 minutes of listening a month, and past that, listening uses points. If you need more, a top-up is $4.99 for 300 points, bought in the Munu phone app. Top-up points never expire.

Is there a limit on voice?

Munu’s voice is included in your points. Listening has its own allowance: 400 minutes a month on both plans. Past the plan’s minutes, listening uses points. In the free trial, listening uses the trial’s 25 points. If you run out of points, a top-up is $4.99 for 300 points, or you wait for the monthly reset.

Do I need an OpenRouter or Deepgram account?

No. The free trial and Munu Pro include the AI use, so there is nothing else to sign up for. Bringing your own keys is optional and the plan costs the same, because it pays for Munu’s voice, cloud listening and updates. Claude Code and Codex both work with Munu, if you have one installed and signed in.

How old do I need to be?

You must be 18 or older to use Munu.

Privacy and your data

Does the camera record me?

No. For hand gestures the camera is watched live on your computer to find your hands, and nothing from it is recorded or saved. A picture leaves the computer only when you ask Munu to look at something, such as “Munu, what am I holding?”, and then it sends one picture for that one question.

Where are my notes kept?

In a folder of plain Markdown files on your computer, in Documents unless you choose another place. You can open it with Obsidian or any text editor, read everything, and fix anything. Munu only writes in its own notes and logs every change.

What it can do

Can Munu use my computer for me?

On Windows, yes, if you turn it on. Munu can look at your screen, click, scroll, type and press keys when you ask. It is off on a fresh install: you switch it on in Settings, under Permissions. It does what you ask and does not stop for a normal click or a file change. It asks you first before a final button such as Send, Pay or Publish, before a delete for good outside the job folder, before spending money and before sending something as you. It never types into a password field, and a card in the top right corner shows every step with a Stop button. On a Mac this version does not click: it only types and presses keys in the app you name. You can also move the pointer with your own hand through hand gestures.

Can I start a job from my phone?

Yes. In the Munu phone app, type an idea or attach a file, and pick a computer. Munu starts the job there with Claude Code or Codex, whichever you have installed, or with its own agent if you have neither. A live job card shows the progress, and the full result and its files come back in the chat. If you pick a computer, the job runs on that one and on no other. The computer needs Munu running, and Coding agents must be switched on for your phone under Settings > Devices.

What does Munu ask before it acts?

Almost nothing. A job works freely: normal clicks, file changes and commands do not ask. Munu stops only before four kinds of step that cannot be undone: a final button (Submit, Send, Pay, Buy, Publish, Place order), a delete for good outside the job folder, spending money, and sending as you. A permission card shows a screenshot with a box around the button, or the list of files, on your computer and as a push on your phone. You answer Allow once, Allow always or Deny. If you do not answer, the job waits for as long as it takes.

Can I undo what a job did?

Yes, for a coding job. Before each step Munu keeps a hidden copy of the job folder. When the job is done, Undo last step puts the folder back as it was before the last step, and Undo all puts it back as it was before the job started. Redo brings back what Undo took away. It still works after you restart Munu or the computer. You can also send new instructions to a job while it runs, from your phone or your computer.

Can I type to Munu instead of talking?

Yes. The Windows and Mac apps have a chat window. Open it from the tray or menu bar icon, or press Ctrl+Shift+Space on Windows or Cmd+Shift+Space on a Mac. It is the same Munu as the voice, with the same memory and tools, and it works with the microphone muted.

Does Munu work inside Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI?

Yes. After you install Munu, those apps can use it with no setup from you. They get Munu’s memory and tools, and a final click or send still asks you first.

Which languages does Munu speak?

Version 1.0 understands and speaks English only.

Does Munu work without the internet?

No. The AI models and the voice services are in the cloud, so Munu needs an internet connection to think, hear and speak.

Installing and about

Why does Windows warn me when I install Munu?

The Windows installer is not code-signed, so Windows shows a SmartScreen warning once (“Windows protected your PC”). This is expected. Click More info, then Run anyway. You can check the file with the SHA256 on the download page. Munu for Mac is signed and notarized by Apple and opens normally.

When can I download Munu?

Now. Version 1.0.1 is on the download page for Windows and Mac.
