Updated

The next version

Draft. Not released yet. The version number and the date are not set.

What is planned for it

  • Start a job from your phone on the computer you choose. An idea or a file becomes a job that runs with Claude Code, Codex or Munu’s own agent, with a live job card and the full result and its files in the chat.
  • Permission cards. Munu works freely and stops before a final button (Submit, Send, Pay, Buy, Delete, Publish, Place order), a delete for good outside the job folder, spending money and sending as you. The card shows a screenshot with a box around the button, reaches your phone as a push, and offers Allow once, Allow always and Deny. No answer means the job waits.
  • Undo for a finished job, also after a restart, and new instructions for a job that is still running, from your phone or your computer.
  • A typed chat window in the Windows and Mac apps, from the tray or with Ctrl+Shift+Space (Cmd+Shift+Space on a Mac). It has the same memory and tools as the voice.
  • Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI can use Munu with no setup after you install it.
  • Starter ideas for your first job, in Settings.
  • PDF and picture tools, video transcripts, and making videos smaller on your computer.
  • Ask it to find, move, rename or tidy your files. A delete goes to the Recycle Bin or Trash, and Munu asks first.
  • Ask from your phone for a file on your computer, and it comes to your phone.

How jobs and permission cards work

Version 1.0.1

Release date:

An update to 1.0.0. Install it over your current Munu: your settings, notes and sign-in stay.

In this version

  • A new Settings window in Munu’s own colours, with an icon for each page. Save keeps the window open and shows “Saved”.
  • Opening Munu while it already runs brings Settings to the front on Windows, instead of behind other windows.
  • Munu does what you ask without asking you to confirm first. It still refuses a few things outright, like typing into a password field.
  • Claude Code works as a brain, with your own Claude Code sign-in.

Getting started with 1.0.1

Version 1.0.0

The first release, for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 and for Macs with Apple silicon on macOS 15 or newer. English only.

In this version

  • Voice: say “Munu” and ask in one go. It sleeps after about eight minutes of quiet and wakes on its name.
  • Interrupt it any time with “Munu, stop”. Quiet mode shows replies on screen instead of speaking them.
  • Memory in plain Markdown notes on your computer, with a log of every change Munu makes.
  • Hand control through the webcam: move the pointer, click, drag, scroll and move windows, in four modes.
  • Opens apps, websites and searches, controls music and volume, and takes screenshots.
  • On Windows, if you turn it on in Settings: looks at the screen, clicks, scrolls, drags, types and presses keys in your apps. It waits for “Munu confirm” before it sends, deletes, buys, installs, runs a program or signs in, and a card in the top right corner shows each step with a Stop button.
  • Background jobs that tell you when they finish.
  • On a Mac: types into apps, reads Mail and Calendar, and makes email drafts for you to send.
  • Connected apps such as Gmail, Calendar, GitHub and Slack through your own Composio account. Anything that sends or changes something waits for “Munu confirm”.
  • A nine-step welcome window that takes about three minutes, with a 7-day free trial and email sign-in.

Not in this version

  • Using the computer on a Mac. On Windows Munu can look at the screen, click and type when you allow it. On a Mac it only types and presses keys in the app you name.
  • Sending email or messages. It can only make a draft for you to send.
  • Shell commands from the voice assistant itself. Only a coding agent that you start can run commands, and it asks before any step that cannot be undone.
  • Languages other than English.

Say its name. It answers.

Munu is a desktop voice assistant for Windows and Mac, with memory you own and hand control through your webcam.
